OCT (optical coherence tomography) is a valuable diagnostic tool that can provide detailed insights into the health of the retina and optic nerve. It is a quick, non-invasive imaging technique that uses infrared light to create detailed, three-dimensional images of the retina and optic nerve at the back of the eye. The OCT can help to detect and monitor eye conditions early on.
Your Provider may suggest an OCT if you have symptoms that suggest certain eye conditions, or if they see evidence of certain conditions during your eye exam. These scans can then be compared over time to observe any changes.
